New Year's Rizzolution #1: Stay Fit and Healthy
Jan 3rd 2018
2018 is officially here, and New Year's Resolutions are in full swing (hopefully). These annual pledges provide opportunities for self-improvement and give people a personal challenge in the New Year. A challenging aspiration to most people, however, is a mandatory job for pro ballplayers.
To get a Big Leaguer's perspective, we caught up with Marucci partner Anthony Rizzo to get his take on four of the most commonly cast New Year's Resolutions, or as we call them, Rizzolutions.
RIZZOLUTION #1: STAY FIT AND HEALTHY
“Staying in shape during the offseason is extremely important. A lot of working out: swimming, training with weights, going to the field and just staying active and moving around. Then I’ll mix in a little yoga and Pilates. To really get locked in before the season starts, I’ll clean up my diet as best I can."

"Out of all the workout routines, I look forward to swimming the most. I love being in the water, swimming laps. It really lengthens out the body for me, keeps me loose but still in shape. Takes a lot of stress off my body when I am training and getting ready for the season."
Staying comfortable and free from injury is key in offseason training, and we've seen many athletes like Anthony begin to opt for low-impact exercises like swimming, yoga, and Pilates in addition to traditional weight and cardio routines.
