BATON ROUGE, LA –Marucci Sports, Southeastern Baseball Announce Partnership

“It’s a special place,” Southeastern head coach Matt Riser said. “We were the original school to swing Marucci and now are back involved with them. I really feel like we’re a program on the up and up, that competes against Power 5 programs. Marucci is the same way. They started out in the industry more than a decade ago, working against companies that had a long history of success. Marucci comes along, competes and now has taken over a big chunk of that market. For us, we’re trying to do the same thing – a national brand that’s still local. To be able to do that in partnership with Marucci, I can’t begin to tell you how excited we are about that relationship.”

As part of the new exclusive partnership, Marucci will provide the Lions with custom bats, catcher’s gear, fielding and batting gloves, and other assorted equipment. In addition to custom gear, the Southeastern baseball team will serve a key role in the development of future Marucci products.

“Marucci has a slogan – Honor the Game – and I think they are one of the best in the business at honoring relationships. We’re grateful for Justin Cryer, Kyle Achord, and of course Kurt Ainsworth, for reaching out, getting back involved and treating us like a program that’s on a national level. The individual time they spend with us means a lot to our program, our kids and our university. That’s the special touch that Marucci puts on their product that is a little different than everyone else.”

With a trademark high-energy approach, Southeastern has won nearly two-thirds of its games since 2014 (194-107), a pair of conference titles and made three NCAA postseason appearances. The Lions have also been one of the top base-stealing and pitching programs at the Division I level during that stretch, producing 15 draft picks.

Based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Marucci was founded in 2004 by two former Major Leaguers and their athletic trainer who began handcrafting bats in their garage for some of the best players in the game. Today, that dedication to quality and understanding of players’ needs has turned Marucci into an All-American success story.

The Marucci Player Advisory Board was formed to give some of the game’s best players an opportunity to lend their expertise and feedback into designing equipment for other players to excel. Major Leaguers Albert Pujols, Jose Bautista, Chase Utley, David Ortiz, Andrew McCutchen, Anthony Rizzo, Francisco Lindor and Buster Posey invest their time and resources into serving on this advisory board where they inspire, test and approve all Marucci products.

DIAMOND CLUB / S CLUB

Fans interested in becoming active supporters of the baseball program are encouraged to join the Diamond Club. Lion baseball alums are encouraged to join the exclusive S Club, which is restricted to Southeastern athletic letter winners. S Club members also gain membership in the Diamond Club.
