Marucci’s 11th college round-up of the 2019 season features three partners that have secured a baseball regional appearance and two junior college programs that advanced to the NJCAA World Series.

BASEBALL

Baylor

The Bears topped seventh-seeded Oklahoma to open the Big 12 Championship. Despite dropping its next two, Baylor was named the No. 2 seed in the Los Angeles regional, battling Loyola Marymount on Friday and either No. 1 national seed UCLA or Omaha Saturday.

LSU

The Tigers picked up three wins at the SEC Tournament to earn the No. 13 national seed and a host site for a regional. LSU will welcome Arizona State, Southern Miss and Stony Brook to Alex Box Stadium, facing the Seawolves Friday at 6 p.m. CT.

Southern

The Jaguars shook off an 8-6 setback to Texas Southern by topping the Tigers 7-6 the following day and drubbing top-seeded Alabama State, 15-0, to claim their first SWAC Tournament Championship in 10 years and first winning record since 2012. The Jaguars will go toe-to-toe with host Mississippi State Friday at noon and either Miami or Central Michigan on Saturday.

Chipola (NJCAA)

The Indians rolled through their first three contests at the Region 8 Tournament, downing Santa Fe College, Northwest Florida State College and State College of Florida. Chipola dropped the first game of the rematch with Northwest Florida State College, 10-7, but won the if-necessary game 14-6 to secure the title and guarantee a spot at the NJCAA World Series. The Indians tallied 18 runs but fell in their first two games in Grand Junction, Colorado.

SOFTBALL

Louisberg College (NJCAA)

The Hurricanes outscored their four opponents 18-3 in the Region X Softball Tournament, capped by 4-1 and 7-1 wins over Florence-Darlington Technical College for the hardware. Louisberg shook off a one-run loss in the first round of the NJCAA World Series by picking up victories in its next two contests, ultimately finishing in the Top 8 of Division II.
