Marucci Adds Pro Fastpitch Star Bailey Landry As Softball Ambassador
Nov 2nd 2017
BATON ROUGE, LA – Marucci Sports has signed professional softball player and NPF Rookie of the Year Bailey Landry as an official softball ambassador, who will represent the brand and advise the company on future softball product designs.
Landry becomes Marucci’s first professional softball player partner and joins NFCA Hall of Fame coach Yvette Girouard as a Marucci Softball Ambassador.
In addition to her advisory role, Landry will also have her own signature line of Marucci softball products set to launch in 2018.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Bailey as an ambassador for our company,” Marucci CEO/Co-Founder Kurt Ainsworth said. “Not only is she an outstanding player, but her sportsmanship, the way she plays the game, and her personal values are aligned with what we stand for at Marucci; she is a great representation of what it means to Honor The Game.”
Building on the commitment to quality and understanding of players’ needs that made it the No.1 bat in Big League baseball, Marucci launched its fastpitch softball line in 2014 with the Pure two-piece composite bat along with a complete fielding glove and batting glove line.
With the help of Coach Girouard and feedback from elite players, Marucci added the CATFX and CATFX Connect composite fastpitch bats, as well as the FP225 fielding gloves to the softball line in 2017.
In October 2017, Marucci released its Custom Glove builder, an interactive online tool that allows players to choose the size, colors and web style of any Marucci glove, including the Softball Series, and add their own embroidered personalization.
“Marucci is all in the details,” Landry said. “Everything about them says, ‘personal’, and that’s the kind of brand I want to be associated with.”
After being selected fifth overall in the 2017 NPF Draft by the Texas Charge, Landry earned Rookie of the Year honors this past season, hitting .348 with five homers, 18 RBI and 29 runs scored.
Landry was also awarded the NPF’s Jennie Finch Award in 2017 for excellence in sportsmanship, leadership and humility on and off the field.
Prior to her professional career, Landry was a two-time NFCA All-American at LSU where she holds the school record for most hits in a career with 293. In her senior season in 2017, Landry collected 92 hits, second-most in the NCAA, and the most in a single season in LSU history.
Landry’s ties to Louisiana also attracted her to the brand, as Marucci is a Baton Rouge-based company.
“What I love about Marucci is that it’s a down-home place, and everything is so personal,” Landry said. “I’m from right here in Louisiana, and so are they. I take a lot of pride in that.”
In 2018, Landry will play the outfield for the defending NPF Champions, the Scrap Yard Dawgs based in Conroe, TX.
