Buster Posey encourages kids to help kids with POSEY28 proceeds

Sep 19th 2019

BATON ROUGE – Marucci Sports and San Francisco catcher Buster Posey announced a united front against a life-threatening disease at the Marucci World Series by committing to donate portions of POSEY28 Pro Metal proceeds to pediatric cancer research through the Buster and Kristen Posey Pediatric Cancer Fund.

“This is a cause that my wife Kristen and I have been incredibly passionate about throughout the years,” Posey said. “We love that kids who use this bat will be helping other children and their fight against cancer. The proceeds from this bat legitimately have a chance to save a kid’s life. It doesn’t get much better than that for me.”

The fourth-annual BP28 Gala was held on Aug. 28, raising over $700,000 towards pediatric cancer research grants. The Poseys are pledging $1,500 to the Buster and Kristen Posey Fund, part of the V Foundation’s pediatric cancer research efforts, for every Buster Posey RBI this season. “Pediatric cancer is something that affects us all,” Marucci Co-Founder and CEO Kurt Ainsworth said. “The impact that Buster and Kristen have already had in changing the lives of children is something we have long admired. Being able to partner with Buster on the POSEY28 and use proceeds to continue such a noble mission has been one of the most rewarding projects we have been a part of at Marucci. We are proud to align our Company with Buster and his family.”

The POSEY28 features an upgraded construction with Marucci’s strongest aluminum and ring-free barrel. The smoke-colored wood grain barrel contains multi-variable walls for an expanded sweet spot and the 2nd generation AV2 anti-vibration knob provides a better feel. This pro-inspired stick is offered with a personalized barrel in BBCOR -3-5-8, and -10 senior league and junior big barrel sizes.

Posey represents Marucci in big league contests with a wood bat and catcher's gear. He was drafted in 2008 with the fifth overall pick by San Francisco. Less than two years later, Posey made his debut and won the 2010 Rookie of the Year award while leading his team to a World Title. He led San Francisco to another title in 2012 and picked up NL MVP honors that year, batting .336 with 24 home runs and 103 RBI. Posey batted at least .284 and posted no lower than a .357 OBP every season between 2010 and 2018.
