BATON ROUGE – Marucci Sports announced Friday that University of North Carolina Wilmington has been added as its newest Division I college baseball partner.

“We are very excited to add coach [Randy] Hood and his program to our growing college lineup as the Seahawks consistently compete at a high level in the CAA,” Marucci VP of Team Sales Kyle Achord said. “Coach Hood has been a large part of developing a winning culture with regionals in 10 of the last 16 seasons. We look forward building a strong relationship and supplying gear to help the Seahawks continue competing at a high level."

As part of the partnership, Marucci will be UNCW’s exclusive provider of bats, fielding and batting gloves, catcher’s gear, bags and other protective products. Additionally, the Seahawks athletes and coaching staff will play a key role in the future design and development of Marucci products.

UNCW won its second straight CAA championship last spring and advanced to the program’s 10th NCAA Regional appearance, all since 2003. Seahawks infielder Greg Jones became the highest draft pick in school history during the 2019 draft, selected 22^nd overall by Tampa Bay after tying school records with 42 stolen bases and nine triples.
