The Road to Omaha

Jun 8th 2022

The goal of every Division 1 baseball program at the start of the year is Omaha. With coaches circling the dates in June on their calendar and covering locker rooms with Omaha slogans, athletes are motivated to keep their eye on the prize. With Regional Tournaments now over and Super Regionals starting June 10th, the Road to Omaha is becoming more of a reality for the 16 remaining programs.

Of the 64 programs in the NCAA Tournament, 10 of the schools selected to compete in the Postseason were Marucci partners. “I couldn’t be prouder of our partners and appreciate their trust in Marucci to give them a competitive advantage when it matters most,” said Marucci’s Director of Team Sales Justin Cryer. “This is the largest number of programs we’ve had in the Postseason as a brand, and they posted some strong stats. The 10 programs who advanced had a combined .285 batting average with 692 home runs and 3,488 RBI’s, over the course of the year.”

One of the perks of making the Postseason is access to the latest product innovations before they’re released to the public. These elite athletes were competing with Marucci’s newest bats, fielding gloves and batting gloves. Oklahoma, who is advancing to the Super Regionals and arguably the hottest team in the country, put the gear to work hitting .280 with 9 home runs and 30 RBI’s over the course of 4 games, leading to 6 players making the All-Tournament team at the Gainesville Regional.

While only one Marucci partner advanced to the Super Regional, the following Marucci programs deserve recognition for making the Postseason: Alabama State, Binghamton, Coppin State, Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Louisiana State, Louisiana Tech, Southeastern Louisiana and Texas State.

Marucci intentionally partners with collegiate programs who are committed to honoring the game, while demonstrating character and a commitment to excellence on and off the field.
